7 Days Chobe & Moremi Adventure (Botswana)
Botswana · Riverfront & delta
Tour overview
This 7-day Chobe and Moremi adventure combines two of Botswana's heavyweight ecosystems: the Chobe River — home to Africa's densest elephant concentrations (often 50,000+ in the greater Chobe–Linyanti system) — and the predator-rich woodlands and floodplains of Moremi Game Reserve on the Okavango's eastern edge.
You start in Kasane for Chobe riverfront boat cruises and game drives, then transfer (road or charter) to Moremi for mokoro and 4×4 days inside the reserve. The route works brilliantly as a standalone Botswana week or as a bridge to Victoria Falls (1 hour from Kasane).

Day-by-day itinerary
Kasane / Chobe — afternoon boat cruise
Arrive Kasane (fly from Johannesburg, Gaborone or connect from Maun). Transfer to your lodge on the Chobe River — Chobe Safari Lodge, Chobe Game Lodge or Muchenje Safari Lodge overlook the floodplain where elephant trails lead to the water each afternoon.
Chobe Game Lodge runs electric safari vehicles on the riverfront; Moremi's Khwai concession permits mokoro, walking and night drives that public parks cannot offer.
Afternoon Chobe River boat safari — elephant herds swimming between islands, buffalo lining the banks, pied kingfishers hovering, and hippos yawning at close range. The riverfront holds Africa's greatest elephant densities — often 50,000+ in the greater Chobe–Linyanti system during peak dry season.Safari activity | Chobe River boat safari
Afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe River — elephant herds swimming between islands, buffalo on the banks and Africa's greatest elephant densities from water level.

Chobe National Park game drives
Pre-dawn tea and a full-day 4×4 exploration of the Chobe riverfront and Serondela area. Lion, leopard, wild dog (occasional), sable antelope and puku are targets alongside the ever-present elephant — herds of hundreds are routine along the river terrace. Carmine bee-eaters nest in sandbanks in September; fish eagles patrol from dead trees.
Midday return to lodge or picnic in the park. Afternoon drive along the Sedudu Valley where elephant cross between Namibia's Impalila Island and Botswana. Optional sunset boat repeat or photographic hide session at Chobe Game Lodge — Africa's only lodge inside a national park.

Chobe to Moremi Game Reserve
Morning game drive, then transfer south to Moremi Game Reserve (road approx. 3–4 hours via Savuti or charter 45 min). The landscape shifts from Chobe river terrace to Okavango floodplain and mopane woodland.
Enter through North Gate or Khwai community area and check in at camp on the Khwai or Xakanaxa floodplain. Afternoon drive along the Khwai River — leopard in ebony groves, elephant at the channel, African fish eagles everywhere. Khwai Lediba, Camp Moremi and Xakanaxa Camp offer en-suite tented accommodation on the floodplain edge.
Khwai Lediba, Camp Moremi or Xakanaxa Camp
Moremi game drives
Dawn drive on the floodplain — wild dog packs often hunt here in the cooler months. Return for brunch, afternoon drive to Third Bridge or Hippo Pool areas. Hyena, jackal and large lion prides follow buffalo herds.
Safari activity | Moremi floodplain game drive
Full-day 4×4 on Third Bridge and Hippo Pool circuits — wild dog, lion prides and leopard in one of Botswana's richest predator habitats.
Moremi camp
Mokoro and walking — Khwai / Xakanaxa
Morning mokoro excursion on the Khwai channel (community polers) — quieter than the deep delta but excellent for birds and close antelope encounters. African jacana, malachite kingfishers and reed cormorants work the channel edges; red lechwe splash through shallows.
Afternoon walking safari with armed ranger on the mopane woodlands fringe — buffalo, giraffe and zebra at eye level. Khwai community concession permits walking and night drives that are banned in Botswana's public parks. Evening optional night drive for genet, civet and leopard.
Moremi camp
Moremi full day — Chief's Island or Black Pool
Your guide targets the day's best sightings — perhaps the open grasslands near Chief's Island for cheetah and lion, or lagoon circuits for elephant herds and saddle-billed storks. Moremi covers the eastern Okavango and Chief's Island — one of Africa's richest predator habitats where wild dog packs hunt lechwe through the channels.
Bush brunch and long afternoon drive to Black Pool or Third Bridge. Hyena, jackal and large lion prides follow buffalo herds through the mopane woodland. Camp Moremi and Khwai Lediba offer en-suite tented accommodation on the floodplain edge.
Moremi camp
Morning drive — transfer to Maun or Kasane
Final sunrise game drive, breakfast, then road transfer to Maun (approx. 4–5 hours) or back to Kasane for Victoria Falls extension / departure flights. Last chance for wild dog, leopard or lion on the Khwai floodplain in the golden dawn light.
From Kasane, Victoria Falls is approx. 90 minutes by road — a popular extension before international flights from Livingstone or Victoria Falls airport.
