What is Aberdare National Park?

Aberdare National Park is one of Kenya's most unique protected areas, located within the central highlands west of Mount Kenya. Covering more than 760 square kilometers, the park protects dense forests, bamboo zones, moorlands, rivers, waterfalls, and mountain ecosystems. Unlike the open savannahs of the Maasai Mara or Amboseli, Aberdare offers a completely different safari experience focused on forests, scenic landscapes, and specialized wildlife species. The park is famous for its tree lodges, dramatic waterfalls, and opportunities to observe animals visiting illuminated waterholes at night.
