Day-by-day itinerary
Kigali arrival — welcome & safari briefing
Airport meet at Kigali International Airport and hotel transfer. Optional afternoon city tour — Genocide Memorial, Inema Arts Centre or Kimironko market if arrival before 15:00.
Evening safari briefing over dinner: gorilla-trek gear for Day 2, Cyanika or Katuna border crossing on Day 3, and Queen Elizabeth savannah programme. Your guide confirms tomorrow's early departure to Volcanoes.

Volcanoes gorilla trek — Kinigi headquarters
Early drive to Kinigi (2.5 hours). 07:00 RDB briefing and full gorilla trekking day in Volcanoes National Park on the Virunga slopes.
Safari activity | Rwanda mountain gorilla trekking
One hour with habituated mountain gorillas in bamboo forest — RDB rangers lead the trek and present your certificate at Kinigi headquarters.
One hour with gorillas on contact, then certificate ceremony and lodge lunch. Afternoon rest at Musanze lodge.
Musanze / Volcanoes lodge
Border crossing to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Morning departure south. Cross Rwanda–Uganda at Cyanika or Katuna border — your guide manages both immigration posts. Continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park (6–7 hours total with border).
Safari activity | Kazinga Channel boat safari
Afternoon two-hour boat cruise on the channel linking Lakes George and Edward — hippos, buffalo, elephant and pied kingfishers along the papyrus banks.
Afternoon Kazinga Channel boat safari on arrival if daylight allows. Check in at Mweya or Kyambura sector lodge.
QENP lodge
Game drives — Ishasha & Kasenyi Plains
Morning drive to Ishasha sector searching for tree-climbing lions in fig trees. Afternoon game drive on Kasenyi Plains for Uganda kob leks, buffalo, elephant and warthog.

Full day exploring Ishasha's tree-climbing lions and Kasenyi's predator territory — lion, leopard and classic East African plains game in one compact park.
Packed lunch in the park. Optional overnight at Lake Bunyonyi for highland scenery instead of QENP lodge.
Queen Elizabeth holds over 600 bird species and classic East African plains game — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and Uganda kob within a compact park.

Transfer out via Kigali or Entebbe
Breakfast and scenic return through the highlands — north to Kigali via Katuna border (5 hours) or west to Entebbe (8 hours) depending on your departure airport.
Airport drop-off with assistance for check-in. Optional Lake Bunyonyi lunch stop and canoe photos en route if routing via Kabale. East Africa Tourist Visa covers both countries for eligible nationalities.
