What is Samburu National Reserve?

Samburu National Reserve is one of Kenya's most distinctive safari destinations, located in the semi-arid landscapes of northern Kenya along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Covering approximately 165 square kilometers, the reserve is famous for rare wildlife species, dramatic scenery, authentic cultural experiences, and excellent predator sightings. Unlike the grassy plains of the Maasai Mara or the wetlands of Amboseli, Samburu offers rugged landscapes characterized by acacia woodlands, rocky outcrops, riverine forests, and open scrubland. The reserve is particularly renowned for hosting the "Samburu Special Five," a group of rare northern species rarely seen elsewhere in Kenya.
