Nyerere National Park is the largest national park in Tanzania and one of the largest protected wildlife areas in Africa. Formerly part of the famous Selous Game Reserve, the park covers more than 30,000 square kilometers of wilderness, making it larger than many countries. It was renamed in honor of Julius Nyerere, Tanzania's founding president.

Unlike the Northern Safari Circuit, which attracts large numbers of visitors, Nyerere offers a more remote, exclusive, and wilderness-focused safari experience. Visitors come here to enjoy boat safaris, walking safaris, predator sightings, and a feeling of true African wilderness far from crowds.
