Lake Naivasha is one of Kenya's most beautiful freshwater lakes and one of the most popular destinations in the Great Rift Valley. Located approximately 90 kilometers northwest of Nairobi, the lake sits at an elevation of about 1,884 meters above sea level and covers a variable area depending on seasonal water levels. Unlike many Rift Valley lakes that are alkaline, Lake Naivasha contains fresh water, allowing it to support a rich diversity of wildlife, birds, aquatic species, and vegetation. The lake has become famous for boat safaris, hippo sightings, birdwatching, luxury lodges, and its proximity to attractions such as Crescent Island, Hell's Gate National Park, and Mount Longonot.
