Home FAQ Visas & entry

Do I need a visa for Rwanda?

Direct answer

Most foreign nationals need a visa — apply online at migration.gov.rw for USD 50 single-entry (30 days) or use the East Africa Tourist Visa (USD 100, valid 90 days across Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya). Processing takes 3–5 working days; apply before travel. East African Community citizens (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, South Sudan, DRC) are exempt. The EAC visa is ideal for Uganda–Rwanda combo safaris.

Overview

Uganda combines mountain gorilla trekking, classic savannah game viewing, chimpanzee tracking, birding, and cultural experiences in a compact circuit. The right answer depends on your dates, fitness, budget, and whether you travel with a licensed operator who handles permits, road logistics, and park regulations.
