Can you see the Big Five in Akagera?

Direct answer

Yes — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and both black and white rhino have been reintroduced to Akagera since 2015–2017. Lions and elephants are seen on most 2-day safaris; rhinos require focused searching in the protected northern sector (30–50% sighting rate). Leopards are present but elusive. Two to three full days of game drives plus a Lake Ihema boat cruise typically deliver four of the Big Five.
