Can I touch gorillas?

No — touching mountain gorillas is strictly forbidden under Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and Rwanda Development Board rules. Gorillas share roughly 98% of human DNA and are highly susceptible to respiratory infections that can be fatal; even a common cold can kill a gorilla. Rangers enforce a minimum 7-metre distance, no flash photography, and no eating or drinking near the group.
