Home FAQ Cost & budget

Are drinks included?

Direct answer

Non-alcoholic drinks (water, juice, tea, coffee) are typically included with full-board lodge meals on Uganda safaris. Alcoholic beverages—beer (–), wine (–/glass), spirits—are almost always charged separately at lodge bars. Carry USD small bills for sundowner drinks; some budget bandas include only water with meals.

On Uganda safari packages quoting full board or all-inclusive lodge rates, non-alcoholic drinks served with meals are usually included. Expect filtered water, juice, tea, and coffee at breakfast, lunch, and dinner in properties ranging from mid-range bandas to luxury tented camps. Bottled water may also be supplied in vehicles during game drives.

Alcoholic beverages are almost always billed separately. Lodge bars price local beer around $3–$5, house wine $5–$12 per glass, and imported spirits higher. Sundowner gin and tonics on the Nile or wine with dinner add up quickly unless your quote explicitly states a premium all-inclusive drinks package.

Budgeting Drinks on Safari

Carry modest USD cash for bar tabs in parks with limited card connectivity. Mid-range travellers often spend $10–20 per day on drinks; luxury guests opting for cellar lists spend more. Clarify inclusion before travel to avoid surprise lodge invoices on checkout night.
