Can you see the Big Five on African safari?

Direct answer

Yes, but rarely in one park. Kenya's Maasai Mara, Tanzania's Ngorongoro Crater, and South Africa's Kruger offer the best single-park Big Five odds. In Uganda, Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth host lions, leopards, elephants, and buffalo—but rhinos only at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary ( entry including on-foot tracking, July 2025 tariff) en route to Murchison. A 10-day Uganda Big Five route: Ziwa rhinos, Murchison game drives, Queen Elizabeth's Ishasha lions, and Bwindi gorillas.
