Can I use cards in Tanzania?

Direct answer

Cards work at major Arusha hotels, some safari lodges, and the e-visa portal, but most bush camps, park gates, and tipping are cash-only USD or TZS. Visa and Mastercard are most widely accepted; expect 3–4% surcharges on card payments to operators. Do not rely on cards inside Serengeti or remote tented camps.

Overview

Uganda combines mountain gorilla trekking, classic savannah game viewing, chimpanzee tracking, birding, and cultural experiences in a compact circuit. The right answer depends on your dates, fitness, budget, and whether you travel with a licensed operator who handles permits, road logistics, and park regulations.
