Is Masai Mara better than Serengeti?

Direct answer

Neither is objectively better — they share the same Mara-Serengeti ecosystem divided by the Kenya-Tanzania border. Masai Mara (1,510 km²) offers higher wildlife density, easier Nairobi access, and iconic July–October river crossings but more vehicle congestion. Serengeti (14,750 km²) hosts the herds year-round — including January–March calving of 500,000+ calves — with greater wilderness scale but longer drives and higher total trip costs when Ngorongoro is included.

Overview

Uganda combines mountain gorilla trekking, classic savannah game viewing, chimpanzee tracking, birding, and cultural experiences in a compact circuit.
