What happens if a gorilla approaches you?

Direct answer

If a gorilla moves closer than 7 metres, stay calm, crouch down, look away, and remain still — do not reach out or step back abruptly. Your ranger will softly vocalise or guide the group aside; habituated gorillas often pass within a few metres out of curiosity. Running or screaming can trigger a defensive reaction from the silverback protecting his family.
