What airport do safari travelers use?

Direct answer

Entebbe International Airport (EBB) is Uganda's main gateway — 40 km south of Kampala on Lake Victoria, with direct flights from Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Doha, Dubai, and European hubs. Bwindi is 8–10 hours by road or 1 hour 15 minutes via AeroLink to Kihihi/Kisoro (USD 283–350). Many gorilla travellers also fly into Kigali (4–5 hours to southern Bwindi) to shorten transfers.

Overview

Uganda combines mountain gorilla trekking, classic savannah game viewing, chimpanzee tracking, birding, and cultural experiences in a compact circuit. The right answer depends on your dates, fitness, budget, and whether you travel with a licensed operator who handles permits, road logistics, and park regulations.
