Tsavo National Park refers to the vast protected wilderness in southeastern Kenya that is divided into two separate parks: Tsavo East National Park and Tsavo West National Park. Together, these parks form one of the largest wildlife conservation areas in Africa, covering more than 22,000 square kilometers. Tsavo is famous for its dramatic landscapes, red elephants, volcanic features, large predator populations, and remarkable biodiversity. Because of its immense size, Tsavo offers a sense of wilderness that differs significantly from more compact safari destinations such as the Maasai Mara and Amboseli.
