Home FAQ Gorilla trekking

What if I am sick before trekking?

Direct answer

You must not trek if you have any contagious illness — cold, flu, cough, fever, diarrhoea, or open wounds. Gorillas have no immunity to most human pathogens, and UWA rangers can deny participation at the briefing without refund if you appear unwell. Report symptoms honestly to your guide the night before; postponing protects the gorillas and is the responsible choice.

Overview

Uganda combines mountain gorilla trekking, classic savannah game viewing, chimpanzee tracking, birding, and cultural experiences in a compact circuit. The right answer depends on your dates, fitness, budget, and whether you travel with a licensed operator who handles permits, road logistics, and park regulations.
