Can gorilla permits be transferred?

Direct answer

No — gorilla permits in Uganda and Rwanda are nominative and non-transferable between individuals. UWA and RDB issue permits in the trekker's passport name, and park gates verify identity on trek day. If your plans change, you may request a date reschedule (subject to availability and a 25% late-change fee within 14 days in Uganda) rather than transferring the permit to another person. Resale to third parties is prohibited.
